About Medion7
A small Athens team with twenty-five years around video and learning
We were founded in November 2001 as a videoconferencing systems integrator. Since 2016 we have been a software company: we build and operate the platforms that put video and e-learning in the hands of institutions.
Our story
From installing rooms to running platforms
For fifteen years Medion7 installed and supported videoconferencing systems for public entities and private companies in Greece: hundreds of rooms, bridges and gateways. We learned how institutions actually use video, where it fails, and what administrators need to see.
As cloud services replaced hardware, our customers asked for something different: a way to use services such as Zoom under their own identity systems, policies and reporting. In 2016 we switched our focus from integrating systems to building software. The e:Presence platforms for the Greek academic community and for public administration grew out of that change.
E-learning has been the other half of the company for just as long. We ran and customised Chamilo for an international academy from 2010 to 2024, built multilingual registration and subscription portals around it, and in 2024 replaced Chamilo with our own Laravel learning platform.
We work with best-of-breed open-source tools: the Laravel PHP framework, Vue.js, Laravel Nova, Moodle, H5P. Our customers include most of the public higher-education institutions in Greece, government bodies and several private educational organisations.

Principles
How we like to work
Long engagements
Our main platforms have been in production for years and are upgraded continuously. We would rather operate a system than hand it over and leave.
Security and privacy by default
Security audits with tracked fixes, automatic anonymisation of inactive accounts, and GDPR-aware designs for public-sector data.
Boring, well-tested code
Current Laravel and PHP, automated tests, static analysis, formatted code and CI pipelines. The next developer should find no surprises.
Open standards
Shibboleth and OAuth2 for identity, H.323 and SIP for rooms, SCORM and H5P for content, Dublin Core for archives.
